Who Needs Giggly Upper Arms?

Arm Lift SurgeryWhy is it that seemingly no matter how hard a woman works to tone her upper arms, the skin doesn’t seem to cooperate? The result is giggly upper arms, sometimes known, less than gently, as “bat wings.”

Fortunately, an arm lift by Dr. Ip can banish the bat wings to the Bat Cave!

What causes giggly upper arms?

Sometimes the upper arms can be flabby after significant weight loss, as the skin can’t return to its former degree of tautness. But in more typical cases, drooping, sagging upper arms are just a fact of aging. As we age, the body produces less collagen to support the skin. Also, the elasticity of the skin decreases. This combination creates saggy skin on the upper arms, as well as all across the body.

What is an arm lift?

An arm lift is a cosmetic surgery procedure that removes excess fat and skin from the upper arms, along with tightening underlying muscles as needed. The end result is arms that have more defined contours and a toned appearance.

How is an arm lift done?

The incisions made to access the upper arms are made either on the inside or on the back of the arm. The length of the incisions depends on what is needed. The longest incisions may start in the underarm and run to just above the elbow. In other cases, incisions are smaller and internal sutures are used to reshape and tighten the arm. Liposuction may be used to remove fat pockets.

Results

Your results will be immediate, although somewhat clouded by swelling and bruising for a couple weeks. In the end, your arms will be toned, more firm, and without the old bat wings.
