Arm lift

The characteristics of some borderline sociopathic comic book hero have no place on your body, do they? Of course they don’t. And while Batman may love his little bat wings, you don’t…especially with summer coming up!

Let Dr. Ip give you an arm lift and clean up the giggly arms for the denizens of Gotham and beyond!

An arm lift takes care of the space from the elbow to the armpit, tightening the skin, removing fat, and reshaping the arms without the need for some latex suit and mask.

Causes of bat wings

Like everything else on our bodies as we age, with time comes saggy skin. You may have lost a good amount of weight or you may simply have lost elasticity in your skin. Regardless, the result is the dreaded “bat wings” under your arms. The problem is that once this skin on the underside of your arms loses its tautness, it won’t come back, no matter how many triceps exercises you do. That flapping around isn’t what you want when you’re lounging poolside this summer.

The procedure

Dr. Ip tailors your surgery to your needs. The incision can run from the armpit all the way down to the elbow, usually on the underside of the arms when they are held straight out in front of you. In other cases, the incision doesn’t need to be as long, and internal sutures can do more of the tightening and reshaping of the arm. Liposuction is usually added to remove pockets of unwanted fat. Once the tissue has been reshaped, the excess skin is removed and the incision closed.

Recovery

Dr. Ip will wrap your arms in elastic bandages, which will then be replaced with compression garments. Most patients can return to work in a week or so, but some swelling can last for up to two months. You’ll need to avoid strenuous physical activity, particularly involving the arms, as this can aggravate the reshaped muscle tissue.
