Your Botox Myths Busted

botox-frownlines-300x1991Botox is one of the most common non-invasive procedures we perform.  And not only are women seeking the treatment in increasing number, but men are lining up as well.  However, there is still  a lot of misconception about the results Botox can achieve.  It’s always best to see us for a consultation so we can address your questions.  In the meantime, here’s a few of the most common questions we most commonly deal with.

When is the best time to get Botox?

Contrary to popular belief, the best time to get Botox is not when you see those fine lines and wrinkles appear.  If you can beat those wrinkles to the punch, you may have an advantage.  Increasingly, Botox is being used as a preventative measure.  It’s much more difficult to smooth out wrinkles after they have been etched into the skin.  One popular theory suggests that you can actually train yourself and your facial muscles to not make the grimaces and scowls that contribute to wrinkles.  True or not, many people are using Botox earlier and more often.

If I stop getting Botox, will my wrinkles get worse?

Botox is successful in reducing the signs of fine lines and wrinkles.  If you decide to stop keeping up with your Botox injections, your wrinkles will just return to their previous look.   We’ve noticed that those that keep up with their injections regularly may be able to go longer between treatments.  However, once treatments are discontinued, the wrinkles just return to their pre-injection state.

Is Botox just for women?

No way!  Men are receiving Botox in increasing numbers.  Conveniently coined “Brotox,” men are embracing the idea of looking refreshed and well rested.  In many cases, the women in their lives encourage them to try Botox.  Some men use Botox to gain an advantage in the competitive workplace.  Whatever the reason, men experience the same success with the procedure.
